Meet The Bishop

Bishop Brenda D. Evans was born in Gary, Indiana. She comes from a long line of ministers. Her grandfather, Clemmon Smith was a Baptist Pastor for over 60 years. Her mother and father are deacons at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist, of Gary, Indiana where they reside. At the age of twelve, Bishop Brenda was called and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior.

Reverend C. L. Emery of Gary, Indiana planted the seed. Pastor Michael Cole nurtured and watered that seed and taught her to have a personal relationship with God. In the spring of 1986, she came to California and that summer she became a member of Christ Chapel of Long Beach. In 1988 she began duties as Coordinator of Social Events. During her membership at Christ Chapel Long Beach, Pastor Brenda oversaw many ministries including the Caretaker Ministry and the church’s AIDS food store.

Bishop Michael Cole requested that she take over the ministering for the Sunday evening services. Three years later she was asked to head a new ministry for a local convalescent home. Pastor Brenda taught at the Advance Ministries annual October gathering. She also served for two years on the Executive Board of the Alliance of Christian Churches as Committee member at large. In mid-fall 1998 during a retreat in Dallas hosted by the Alliance of Christian Churches, the book of Joshua 1:6-9 was revealed to Pastor Brenda. This scripture was the seed that led her to further growth. Complete transformation of Pastor Brenda in the Word was fulfilled on Sunday,
June 6, 1999.

Bishop Brenda D. Evans has embraced the challenges of cultivating people to know God and to utilize their gifts and talents. She is determined to remain on the path that God has set before her.
